I love creating jewelry and small objects in metal. I am attracted to found things like an old camera lens, paper, stamps, and just about anything from the natural world. I try to create a design that feels good in your hands and when it is worn. My intention is to let the design alone draw someone in and then give them a little space for surprise when they discover the words. In some pieces the words want to speak out with force while with other pieces the words feel more intimate and hidden. I love the idea of someone wearing a piece of mine, sharing the poetry with those who see it being worn. To know that the words/stories that my pieces convey are out there in the world, being shared with others, just tickles me. Poetry has the unique ability to slow the clock and celebrate the places where some of our most tender desires reside. In most cases I am trying to find a home for these words or found objects. I like the idea that my pieces can be little stories that protect or give meaning to the wearer. I feel grateful everyday to have this opportunity to create. It feels like magic. |
